Byonics - MicroTrak
Micro-Fox T-Hunt Transmitters
Byonics carries these Micro-Fox transmitters for Hidden Transmitter Hunting, also called Fox Hunting, Bunny Hunting, or T-Hunting. These transmitters are small, self-contained, and easy to hide. They are great for on-foot or driving hunts, or as secondary transmitters after people find the primary T. Just conenct to any 2-meter SMA antenna, such as our V2 or V4 antenna, add a battery and configure with your callsign, and hide the transmitter.

Transmitter or Fox Hunting Class 101 by Byon Garrabrant
I attended the Arizona Repeater Association’s (ARA) February
2014 meeting. They had a guest speaker, Byon Garrabrant, presenting what
could be called the definitive lecture on Transmitter Hunting. I have
broken the lecture up into 4 parts based on content for easier viewing
and reference. In general the 4 parts are:
1. What is Transmitter Hunting
2. Hiding
3. Hunting
4. Closing remarks and High Alt. Balloon Tracking.
There will be a large photo gallery after the videos below if you want to see some items in detail.
I want to thank Byon Garrabrant and the ARA for allowing this content to be distributed publicly for everyone to learn and enjoy.
You can find more about the ARA at their website: http://www.w7ara.org
You can contact Byon Garrabrant or purchase his APRS and Fox Hunting gear from his website: http://www.byonics.com

Our new DDF2020T, you do not need to change the antenna to the receiver side even when the power is off. Now it has higher stability by fixing the problem of unstable connection of each base. In particular, the base of the antenna on the roof of the car is made with aluminum so that it does not become rusty. We hope you are satisfied with this product.

Doppler Systems Mobile Kit
Doppler Systems Mobile Kit
mobile kit includes antennas for the bands to be covered, the mobile summer, the GPS receiver, the compass (optional), and all the cables necessary to setup and operate a mobile direction finder. All of the equipment is packaged in a foam lined Pelican case. Power cables are provided with cigar lighter plugs. All antenna elements and cables are carried in a custom Mighty Pouch accessory bag. If the processor suite contains a data radio the data radio antenna is also housed in the Pelican case. The figures below show typical a equipment complement. The mobile kit is available in a single, dual, or three-band antenna kit covering 100 MHz - 1000 MHz.

DSP-RDF Doppler Radio Direction Finder Kit
DSP-RDF Doppler Radio Direction Finder Kit
This kit is based upon the N0GSG DSP Doppler featured in the November 2002 QST Magazine. Doppler RDF units determine the bearing to a signal's source by electronically rotating four antennas, arranged in a circular pattern, at a high rate of speed. The signals received at each antenna are combined and passed on to your FM receiver which is tuned to the frequency of interest. The FM receiver detects the incoming signal and produces an audio tone which is then passed back to the Doppler unit. Inside the Doppler unit are two microprocessors which control the antenna switching and process the audio tone, from the receiver, using DSP techniques. The result of this processing determines the relative direction to the signal source. The direction is displayed continuously in real-time on a circular array of 16 LEDs, each representing 22-1/2 degrees of angle. In the case of intermittent signals the microprocessors save and display the last directional information (shown as a flashing bearing indicator) until the signal is again active. Active signals are displayed as a steady directional indication. The DSP-RDF Doppler kit being offered by W6DFW incorporates another feature not in the original design. This feature allows direction finding of a jamming signal even when the jammer is broadcasting a tone intended to interfere with Doppler units.

Super Simple Sound Doppler
Lodewijk, pa3bnx developed very nice software for this. It can plot the bearing directly on a electronic map if you want, and with GPS data it can plot and refresh your own location on the map as well. At december 31st 2013 I spoke to Lodewijk and explained my new idea to add a elevation indicator to the RDF, based on the reduced doppler amplitude on signals with higher elevations. I was waiting for a LED driver IC to build this addition.
